Welcome to Young Writers' free Poetry Glossary

What is Couplet?

A Couplet is two lines of poetry, one after the other, that rhyme and are of the same length and rhythm.

Example of a Couplet

I do not like green eggs and ham.
I do not like them Sam I am.

Why don’t you try writing a poem using a couplet and enter it into one of our poetry competitions.
