What age is SPaG Monsters for?

SPaG Monsters is aimed at 6-12 year olds, with differentiation built in for differing abilities regardless of age. For higher ability/older pupils, the beginning levels can be used to consolidate and reinforce prior learning before moving onto the higher levels, which correspond to their ability.

Can SPaG Monsters be used at home?

Yes! SPaG Monsters can be used at school or at home. Once you have set up your pupils, they will each have a login and they can access their account from anywhere.

How long does it take to set up?

Once you have subscribed you can have a class set up in just a few minutes. Once you have set up your pupils, you can easily print their logins ready to give to them for use at home or in school.

What devices can SPaG Monsters be used on?

SPaG Monsters can be used on desktops, laptops and tablets. You can use SPaG Monsters on a phone, but because of the screen being so small it's not quite as enjoyable.

Can I see all the games?

You sure can! As soon as you login to your teacher account, you will be able to create your own learning account and, of course, design your own monster. You will be able to see all of the games across all of the different levels without having to earn the stars to unlock them.

Are there different levels for different ages?

When your pupils first log in they will all be at the same level for games. Once they start playing the game will become more difficult as they improve.

Once a pupil has achieved 5 stars on a game 5 times, they will win a medal and the game will become more challenging... Don't worry, when they get their medal, we let them know the game will get a bit trickier so they don't get frustrated if they get fewer stars the next time.

There are 3 levels, each corresponding to curriculum guidelines for spelling and grammar in key stages 1, L2 and U2 or equivalent.

Does it have pupil reports?

Yes! You can see lots of statistics and progress in your teacher account. It's all broken down for each pupil for you to easily spot where they are doing well or might need some extra practise.

Can I see my pupils' last login?

Absolutely! You can see the date and time each pupil last logged in, so if you set SPaG Monsters for homework you can easily see who has completed it.
