There was a time I had a friend,
I never thought that it would end,
Each school day break,
My mate would take
Me by the arm and lead me to
Our secret corner
To think of what to do.
No one would see us when we were there,
The tree hung around us like a mass of dangling hair.
We'd spend all our playtime just having fun,
Until one day he sat there looking glum.
My friend has to change school
And I will never see him again,
These words hurt like thorns giving me pain.
Who will I laugh with?
I will miss you, my friend.
Our journey as best mates has come to an end.
