Jane was elated. She was going trick or treating. At the third house she visited, Jane's friends were spooked. They dared her to bang on the door alone. She boldly knocked. There was no answer. Less courageously, she knocked again, this time the door creaked open. She timidly stepped inside. The cumbersome door slammed shut, the sound vibrating through her spine. Suddenly, a blood-sucking bat swooped downwards, fangs bit into her skull. She lost her footing and tumbled backwards. Thud! When Jane awoke, she noticed crimson, velvet surroundings. She was in a coffin! Her screams faded as oxygen diminished.
