I left my shady sanctuary and found myself in the heat of the sun. I immediately started running - walking could lose the race. I heard the chasing birds coming after me, feeling the wind from their wings on my back. My siblings were behind me, checking on them would slow me down in my scramble to the sea. I clambered up the last dune to see the sea glistening invitingly. I skidded down and and ran to the sea, flapped my flippers and sped off. With the peril of the birds behind me, I knew I had a turtle's life ahead.
