As I lay my head down to slumber
My busy mind begins to wander
What is hiding in the night?
Oh no, oh my, what a fright!
From the shadows the dreams rise
Quickly I try to divert my eyes
A fear so real and beyond compare
Hurry, hurry, get me out of there...
My eyes begin to slowly flutter
My head slows down and ceases to stutter
A sound so familiar I begin to hear
My mother is calling, easing my fear
Daylight shines through into my room
The demons, the darkness, they no longer loom
It's time for school, I am safe
Until tonight when I go back to that place.
