Early morning London was cold with thick fog. Gas street lamps flickered. Harriet, wrapped in a thick shawl, made her way to her new job as Lady Palmer's maid. As Harriet walked through the fog, she began to feel lost. She stumbled across a cobbled street with grand houses which looked familiar, and made her way through large iron gates leading to a courtyard. Harriet was looking for the servants' door when a horse and carriage raced past, startling her. She turned to run. This wasn't Lady Palmer's home, it was Buckingham Palace.
