The ultimate guide to self-empowerment

Self-love and self-belief can be hard, we are here to help you master your inner zen and discover true self-empowerment

Self-empowerment comes in many different forms, it can mean different things to different people and be perceived in a manner of ways. This guide on self-empowerment is designed to support, nurture, and... empower! It's full of ideas to help you find your inner empowerment and develop that love that's buried inside of you.

You were put on this earth to achieve your greatest self, to live out your purpose, and to do it courageously - Steve Maraboli

There are many facets to self-empowerment and the term has no universal definition. We like to think of it as finding our inner self-belief, being aware of our own skillsets, making positive choices and having faith in our abilities. Self-empowerment means taking charge of your own decisions, fate, and future.

But how do I work on that? Good question! There are a few things anyone can do to try and develop some self-belief.

Mindmapping-

Having a clear goal and mindset is one of the most important things to support self-empowerment, knowing where you're heading and what you want to achieve can help develop a game plan and map things out. You may not know exactly where you want to be in 5, 10 or 20 years' time, and that's absolutely okay! Life's big secret is that... Not many people do know this. What anyone can do is set up some goals that you want to achieve, whether small in the near future, or much larger in the years to come. Do you want to work towards studying a certain amount of hours per week? Maybe you want to spend more time with your friends. These are clear goals you can identify. Once you have some ideas write down three steps that should be taken to help you achieve these goals. If you want to be an astronaut, maybe the first small step could be to pick up a non-fiction book on space and start your research! By defining clear goals, anyone can set aside simple steps to work towards creating a clear path to the future.

Your greatest risk is in thinking too small. Think big. Life is too short to think small. - Anonymous

Mindfulness journals-

Check in on yourself. Learn to know yourself, find out what skills you have, where your head is and how you're feeling. This is incredibly important as it helps you to understand your own skillset and can help to identify those ultimate goals you want to reach. Check out our blog on developing independence if you want some tips on how you can learn to find yourself more. Mindfulness journals, or just keeping a diary can be a fantastic way to regularly keep in touch with our feelings. Noting down how your day went, what happened, and how you felt helps to keep track of where your head is, and can even help you to come up with ideas for those all-important steps you want to take towards self-development.

Trust yourself. There is no one else on earth that is better suited to determining your ideal and making it happen than you - S.D. Buffington

Keeping the right mindset-

This is something most people can struggle with, keeping the right mindset. Life can throw any number of things at us at any time. Some people may face a lot more challenges in life than others, but it's how we deal with those that counts. Keeping the right attitude is where our capabilities get put to the test, when faced with adversity do you throw in the towel and give up, or explore the avenues to make the situation better? This is where we can really excel. Accepting failure is tough, so tough we created an entire blog post about it here! Learning how we can move on from life's failures helps us to learn, develop and ultimately, thrive. Conversely, celebrate your success! When we do ultimately achieve something amazing, it's important to know that it was probably earned and fought for. Make sure to give yourself credit for something positive and know what helped to get you there.

Never let success get to your head and never let failure get to your heart - Ziad K. Abdelnour

Support, empower and be an ally-

What we give to the world comes right back around. The energy we feed others shapes the situations around us and ultimately comes back to us. Surround yourself with people who nurture your abilities, and that allow you to support theirs. Find your positive energy and support others. We also created a blog post on how to be an ally and support those around you, read it here. Once you learn to support others, you'll be surprised by the positive energy that gets fed back into our lives.

It is never too late to be who you might have been - George Elliot
