From tiny minibeasts to jungle giants, the natural world is full of amazing things to discover!
Wild Wonders is a FREE drawing competition for 5–7-year-olds, inviting young artists to create a picture inspired by nature.
Your child could draw their favourite animal, a beautiful butterfly, an underwater adventure, or a whole habitat filled with wildlife. The choice is theirs!
Best of all, their artwork could be published in a real, full-colour book, with exciting prizes to be won!
Whether they love animals, plants, the ocean, or the creatures living in their garden, there's plenty to inspire them.
Butterflies, bees, beetles, and tiny garden creatures.
Lions, elephants, monkeys, woodland animals, and more!
Colourful fish, turtles, crabs, and underwater habitats.
Flowers, trees, birds, seasons, and local wildlife.
OR LET THEIR IMAGINATION GO WILD! These are just ideas to get started. Your child can draw anything inspired by nature.
No special equipment or artistic experience needed. Just a little imagination and something to draw with!
Choose an animal, plant, habitat, or another natural wonder.
Let your child create their own nature-inspired picture.
Send their finished drawing to Young Writers by the closing date.
Your child can add labels or a short description if they wish, but writing isn't required. It's all about celebrating their creativity!
Wild Wonders gives young artists the exciting opportunity to see their drawings published in a real, full-colour book.
One drawing from each book will also be selected to feature on the front cover!
From the drawings chosen for book covers, five winners will each receive an amazing prize bundle!
Every entrant receives a bookmark and sticker. Children whose work we'd love to publish also receive a certificate.
Independent entrants are eligible for the same pupil prizes as school entrants. Winners will be chosen from published entries received October to December 2026, with prizes awarded in the spring term. Prize bundle contents may vary.
Your child's picture should be inspired by the natural world and include a title. Please include their name, age, and your contact details.
