Boy in the Tower
by Polly Ho-Yen
Author: Polly Ho-Yen
This book is a fantasy tale about plants, Bluchers. These majestic like plants shine in the moonlight, though they do not deserve any grace, beauty and certainly no attention - for these plants are responsible unhappiness in many people's hearts, homelessness plus many deaths and injuries.

You see Bluchers, feed on the materials used to build walls in houses, like bricks, cement, glass and putty. This is where Ade, the main character comes in. The story is filled with misery and struggle, yet excitement and hope as he, his agoraphobic mother, a few neighbours and a few unexpected friends unite to escape the almost devoured tower-block.
My favourite part is how the tension grew as time was running out!
It is filled with suspense and scary moments and therefore I feel it is a must read for 8-12 year olds.
