King Flashypants and the Creature from Crong
by Andy Riley

Author: Andy Riley
RRP: £6.99

The main characters in this book are: King Edwin Flashypants, who is 9 years old; Emperor Nurbison, who has his own private golf course; Globulous, Emperor Nurbison's plump friend; and Colin, the tiny horse. Emperor Nurbison is the evil emperor.

King Flashypants goes on a hunt for the Creature of Crong, who is is a seven-eyed monster that lives in the forest clearing. In one part, Flashypants, Megan, Minister Gill and Colin are stuck on a rock inside a volcano. They get out some jelly shoelaces and tie the together to make a thick rope. The king climbs up last so he can eat the rope as he goes up! Then they all ride on Colin's back to get back to Edwinland before the creature does. At the end, there is a dramatic bit where King Edwin battles the monster with vegetables and King Nurbison is pooped out of the monster. It was really funny.

My favourite part was when they were in the volcano because they battled fire toads. There are no scary bits in this book, it is just completely funny, especially the chapters where Emperor Nurbison is shouting at his golf ball.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes funny stories. There is also a bonus cartoon at the back about Nurbison's two-headed rat. I would give this book...5 stars!!
