Broken Soup
by Jenny Valentine

Author: Jenny Valentine
RRP: £5.99

When a good-looking American boy picks up a negative from the floor of the shop and hands it to Rowan, she knows she didn't drop it. But then the boy disappears into the crowd.
This book is heart-wrenching and thought-provoking but still has a great sense of humour too. Following Rowan and her little sister, Stroma after the death of her brother as she meets Harper, Bee and many other characters is an interesting and overwhelming journey- sad but not so sad that you end up in tears.
There is a mystery to be solved- where did the negative come from? What is it? The answers to the mystery are unexpected and surprising which adds to the drama and excitement of the book. The author cleverly broaches the subject of death and grieving through the process of moving on and discovering what really happened.
I think this book is a great read for any teenager and teaches that life is journey and you will always find the way.
