Throne of Glass
by Sarah J Maas

Author: Sarah J Maas
RRP: £7.99

The book features it main protagonist, Celaena Sardothien, Adarlan's most deadly assassin. After being caught, and forced to serve a inhumane sentence in the mines of Endovier, enduring the barbaric treatment of the overseers, surviving whip after whip, Celaena never thought she would see the light of the day again. That is until the prince, son of a king who Celaena has long despised offers her a chance to gain freedom. Will she compromise her personal morals in the sake of a future free from slavery and chains, even if it means turning her back on everything she believes in?

I would recommend this book to 14+, as it features themes of slavery, rape and inhumane treatment, which younger readers may be less able to cope with. However, anyone mature enough should give this a read, it isn't a totally depressing book- Celaena's wit and humor makes for a fun and fast-paced novel- you'll be finished in no time!

I would definitely, definitely recommend this book, especially to fans of dystopian fiction. Assassins and slavery are sensitive themes, seldom mentioned in Young Adult books but Sarah J Maas has done a fabulous job of being respectful yet detailed and vivid in her descriptions, ensuring a fascinating yet enjoyable read- Definitely pick it up!
