Whisper the Dead
by Alyxandra Harvey

Author: Alyxandra Harvey

Whisper the Dead is an exciting, period-set, magical read. It is the second book of the amazing Lovegrove Legacy series.

Whisper the Dead picks up where the first book, (A Breath of Frost), left off. The book follows the journey of three witches-who happen to be cousins, Gretchen, Emma and Penelope. Where A Breath of Frost, focuses on Emma, Whisper of the Dead focuses on the rebellious Gretchen.Gretchen possess a rare gift- she is a Whisperer. This means that she can hear all of the spells performed by past witches which can help her make new spells or fix existing ones. However, she struggles to control this gift. To make matters worse, the Order has sent chaperones to follow the three cousins who are deemed untrustworthy after Emma bottles the Greymalkin sisters. After a series of mysterious events, Gretchen, (who usually refuses to conform to what society and her mother expect of her), falls in love with her chaperone Tobious and together, they fix the mysterious events happening in London's witching world. Unbeknownst to them, these events will lead to the release of a great evil which could destroy the witching world as they know it...

I cannot express in words how much I enjoyed this book! Alyxandra Harvey takes your typical witch story and completely transforms it into a truly wonderful story. From the moment I picked up the book I really could not put it down!

The only downfall for this book, for me, was the powerful, suspenseful cliff-hanger ending. I felt that the book just stopped at the most climactic part and I really cannot wait for the third book of the series to find out what happens.

I rate this book 10/10 and I would recommend it to anyone and everyone! It truly is a magnificent, magical story.
