Fighting Ruben Wolfe
by Markus Zusak
Author: Markus Zusak
Fighting Ruben Wolfe is a book about two brothers, Rube and Cam who in their spare time are known to persuade corrupt cops to place bets for them at the track, practice fighting in the back garden with one boxing glove each, attempt to avoid their father's ramblings about refusing to go get the dole and try to come up with more compliments for their mothers awful pea soup, whilst trying to hide their blossoming, underground fighting career.

Rube is incredibly protective of his family to the point of inflicting pain onto those who insult them, so when a mildly alcoholic boxing coach Perry Cole shows up at the front door offering 50 pounds per win ,it is hard to say no.
In my opinion this novel is written for teens upwards due to its slightly mature themes but is a great page turner, impossible not to want to finish it in one sitting.
