by Garth Nix
Author: Garth Nix
Clariel: The Lost Abhorsen is the fourth instalment of The Old Kingdom Series and follows the journey of Clariel, now known as __________ (so as not to spoil the initial surprise!). This prequel is set approximately six hundred years prior the birth of Sabriel.
Clariel, a rebellious sixteen/seventeen year old, and has only just recently arrived in the royal and regal city of Belisaere, the capital of The Old Kingdom. And she doesn’t like it. Clariel is not adjusting well to the Belisaere ways and all its false flattery, secrets, endless rules of propriety. And the amount of walls. She’s not too keen with the fact that her new life is filled with courtiers.
Soon Clariel longs for the freedom of the Great Forest and her hometown Estwael. So when a dangerous Free Magic creature is on the loose, Clariel is given a chance to prove her worth and earn her ticket back to Estwael. She is delighted – until events rapidly spiral out of her control. The ancient rules binding the Abhorsen, Clayr and the King, appear to be crumbling and Clariel must decide to choose between her duty and her dreams. And how far will she go to achieve this?
This book is a GREAT must-read and is amazingly addictive and will delight fantasy fans. And the dramatic events will haunt you, long after you put this brilliant book down!
