Pig Heart Boy
by Malorie Blackman
Author: Malorie Blackman
'Pig Heart Boy' is a powerful and interesting story. It is good for advanced readers and maybe young adults.
Amy Strode (11)
Many years ago, Cameron Kelsey had a heart failure. Then one day Cameron overhears his mother and father arguing once again after he comes home from school. He can't take much more of it and he spies on them, finding out that his father wants him to have a pig transplant. Hoping that his best friend Marlon wont tell anyone, he blurts out the secret. But Marlon betrays Cameron and lets his secret out and tells everyone......
This is a well-written, imaginative and convincing read. It has good literature and is realistic. It feels as if you are actually there.
Even though this is a very thick book, it is a very quick read, as you are dragged along by the story. Although there are no pictures, the powerful description creates a vivid image in your head. I would recommend this book very much.
