Awful Auntie
by David Walliams

Author: David Walliams
RRP: £12.99

David Walliams, best-selling children's author, has once again hooked children with his latest piece set in the olden days, "Awful Auntie". In the book, young Lady Stella Saxby is devastated when she receives the news about her parents' death. To make matters worse, she is left living with her wicked auntie; Stella soon realises that her father's sister isn't as kind as she makes out! As the story unravels, many concealed secrets are discovered, the good and bad battle and one very special friendship is made! Tricks seem to be lurking everywhere in this fast-paced fiction tale...

One of my favourite parts of the book is when Stella stands up to her evil aunt by brainstorming countless cunning plans. It is extremely funny, especially when the text is accompanied by the hilarious illustrations by Tony Ross. When reading this fabulous page-turner, the tense chapters will ignite your fear whereas the ridiculous moments will have you in stitches!! Personally, I was intrigued from the first few words: Walliams' choice of language is astonishingly effective in this book.

This popular story teaches youth all about how to be brave, stand up to your fears and believe in yourself. David Walliams, quoted as "the next Roald Dahl", has now released many brilliant children's books and I can't wait for what he has in store for the future!
