First Light
by Rebecca Stead

Author: Rebecca Stead
RRP: £7.99

Peter cannot wait to go on a scientific exploration on the ice caps of Greenland with his parents and Jonas. Thea lives under the ice and cannot wait for her chance to leave her home and go to the surface.

Peter leaves his mother in the tent so she can rest and goes out for an adventure with his dog. At the same time, Thea and her best friend in the whole world are trying to find a way for her people to be able to leave the underground ice kingdom their ancestors had built. When Thea's friend gets trapped, unconscious in the ice, Thea shouts for help. Peter's dog responds. When Peter and Thea meet, two completely different world's collide, unlocking an epic adventure for one, a life of freedom and exploration for another and a host of secrets will be released for both...

I really enjoyed this book as it is well-written, relatable and adventurous. Stead portrays the different characters in a way so that everyone who reads the book will be able to relate and she transports you to the place of adventure. When I picked this book up and began to read, I honestly could not put it down until it was finished. It is a brilliant book and I would highly recommend that if you like to read teen/adventure/drama stories, then this is the book for you. Without a doubt, I would give this book 10 out of 10 stars!!
