The Bane Chronicles
by Cassandra Clare

Author: Cassandra Clare
RRP: £12.99

This book, as a spin off from the "mortal instruments" series follows the immortal life of a warlock by the name of Magnus Bane. As my favourite mortal instruments character, I was delighted to find he was featuring in a book of his own and it did certainly not disappoint.

Cassandra Clare is an eloquent author with a streak of traditionalism about her work, which itself is rather contemporary. This collides brilliantly with the concept of Magnus, whose personality reflects such writing. Co-authoring the book, are Sarah Rees Brennan and Maureen Johnson. Their input makes for refreshing, yet subtle differences from chapter to chapter.

Following the life of someone who lives through many eras is always captivating. His upbeat mannerisms, vulnerability and attitude towards life make him an endearing character to all audiences and his remarkably long tale of adventure, love and life in general is one that cannot go unread.
