Silence
by Natasha Preston

Author: Natasha Preston
RRP: £5.21

Silence is all that surrounds you in the presence of Oakley Farrell, whose lips haven't uttered a word for eleven years. She stopped talking at the age of five and no one knows why. Refusing to talk despite the numerous doctor appointments she has had to attend, despite all the moral pressure, and despite having to witness the pain and sorrow in her mother's eyes. But keeping silent is far better than letting the people she loves know the truth...

Bullied at school, she has just one friend, Cole Benson. He has been by her side no matter what and has been the only one to accept her for who she truly is. Throughout this book, I have learnt that although communication is key to a successful friendship, it is not always the case.

This book is based on what thousands of victims across the globe have gone through however, this is more of an insight into how it has affected not just the one person, but everyone around her. Thus, I truly recommend this book especially to those aged 12 and over because not only is it based on a real life situation, but it will force your eyes to shoot a stream of river down your face.
