The exciting new poetry competition from Young Writers for 5-7 year-olds.
Children tell the craziest stories, from taking their dinosaurs for a walk in the park to eating cake on the moon with friends. Young Writers' latest competition Poetry Adventures inspires pupils to draw on experiences either real or imagined to plan and write an original poem.
We have developed a lesson plan that complements the National Curriculum which enables you to teach pupils about narrative poetry and rhyme, then using what they have learned and a planning sheet they can plan and write their poetry adventure to enter into this exciting competition.
We recognise every entrant's participation by awarding a bookmark, and every successful entrant will receive a certificate of merit to acknowledge their achievement, and a complimentary copy of the anthology your pupils appear in will be sent to the school for your library.
We have recommended Poetry Adventures for Key Stage 1, but Key Stage 2 pupils are welcome to enter too. In addition to Poetry Adventures, we also have Monster Poetry, which is recommended for Key Stage 2, but younger pupils can take part as well. Pupils can enter either Poetry Adventures or Monster Poetry - only one entry per pupil for either competition!
