I dabbed my fingers into the thick ruby liquid and traced elaborate swirls over my masterpiece. The incisions were almost perfect now and the jarring screams that accompanied them replayed in my mind like the most jubilant of melodies. Contrasting beautifully, creams and reds created perfection that would be impossible to outdo. Already, I was fantasising about the next one. My heart thudded excitedly and my eager palms twitched. The front door opened, my dad yelled as he entered the hallway. 'Sweetheart, time for school.' I smiled, looking over my mother's lifeless body before skipping gracefully towards my next masterpiece.
