Guilt

Guilt curdles up inside me
Like a twisted tangle of worms
Pulling at my heart
And tearing me apart.

It plays back in my head
Over and over again
The incident that happened
I see it in burning red.

Why did I do it?
I wonder,
Cos it's left me feeling bad
I know I've made someone in my class
Feel very sad!

Guilt is the worst feeling
Torturous and burning
Like a hot fire on a summer's day
But what I did was, at one point, what I wanted,
Dare I say?
