He climbed the last few steps, blood dripping from his wounds that he sustained in his battle. Any fear that had suffocated his confidence before had been washed out by the tremendous victory and the prospect of a life of fame and fortune. Fingers curled around the handle, the door swung open... Her body was still. Not the kind of stillness that one would associate with sleep either, but a motionless corpse. The prince broke down as he took in the hollow eyes and the ants gnawing at her flesh - the princess was no more.
