Two Lost Souls

Worlds apart.
Inches of glass,
Obstructing and preventing:
So close yet so far.
A strange combination
Of a girl and a bear.

She'd be free from the bullies,
The taunts and the kicks.
Away from the playground voices -
Running laps round her head.

He'd be free from the eyes,
Observing his every move.
Back in the wintry scenery,
Roaming the cold; the hard.

She'd escape from sadness.
Be free like a bird.
Tears washed away with the watery waves.
'I wish . . . I wish . . . '

He'd escape from the daunting cage of glass.
Paws against wall
Hopes slowly fading.
'I wish . . . I wish . . . '

Wanting the same.
Forgotten wishes, in a world gone wild.
Swirling in a whirlpool of loneliness.
Noses pressed together -
Shattered hearts repaired!
A peculiar link; an instant bond.

She escapes from cruelty,
He, from captivity . . .
