She held him in a loving embrace as if she would never let go. Her hair blew around like a tree in the wind. Tears ran down her cheeks like a waterfall. She had missed him so much. He was back from the war but he was not whole. Suffering PTSD felt like paddling a canoe up a river the wrong way, headed towards rocks. The mother was disheartened when she was told he planned to return to fight a bit longer. The family's joy was ruined by the knowledge that he would go back.
