The Third Floor Bedroom

The cool air bristled its way into the room. Night was coming near, and it was time for me to go. I nonchalantly pulled on the white wallpaper that held my place. With each tug, my body formed into a genuine bird, not a piece of paper. I peeled away at each false paper feather on my wings, until they were all real. Once I was free, there was much movement. The rest of the wall peeled away, revealing other birds joining me into the endless eventide. We all gathered near the window sill, peering into the night sky.
