Sergeant Ghost

The battle was over. The British forces had captured many Nazi soldiers. This part of Northern France was heavily wooded. George was a Private in the British army. Exhausted, George found a clearing to rest and eat. Suddenly, he saw his Sergeant in the near distance calling him over hurriedly. George exhaustedly got up, stood to attention, and wearily marched across. Boom! Enemy shells exploded exactly where George had been taking cover. George looked up, his Sergeant had gone! Twenty minutes later he scrambled back to his colleagues. 'Where's Sarge?' he asked. Hauntingly the reply was: 'Sarge died hours ago!'
