The Prisoner

I wake up suddenly shuddering with fear. I have no idea where I am. I shout until I'm hoarse but no one comes. The cold seeps into my bones from the hard stone floor. My cell is so small, these walls will be the end of me. The darkness is suffocating. Wait, I hear footsteps coming, the jingle of keys in the door. I know what I have to do, my escape is imminent. The door is thrown open and I charge blindly into the light. My jailor is caught unawares; I run as fast as I can to freedom.
