Once Upon An Icy Dream

Once upon a dream,
I saw an icy land,
It was a wonderful sight,
It had lots of flavour; never bland.
Swiftly, the blizzard stretched its icy legs
From out of the hollow night,
Stripping the world of all her scarlet pomp
And muffling her in white.
The snow blowing gently across my face,
Like tiny particles of sand.
The plants are covered full in white
And there the snow stands.
In inky curve, along the drifted snow
The sluggish river rolled.
A numb, black snake caught lingering in the sun
By autumn's sudden cold.
