Mythical Creature

I was strolling through the trees,
There were many colourful leaves
Crisp and crackling beneath my feet
Who am I here to greet? I wondered...
I was walking quickly, I blundered
I fell onto the soft, green grass
Looked around me and saw blazing eyes
In the darkness, there were butterflies
I ran forward trying to see what it was
Suddenly, there were claws
I fell back
Was something going to attack?
There were huge golden wings spread wide
Its eyes were the colours of a tide
The tail curled into a spiral and shimmered
Scales on its body glimmered
And then I realised, all those features...
Belonged to a mythical creature.
