Mermaid Child

I dreamt I had a baby,

but my baby was like no other.

My baby had a tail,

I was a mermaid's mother!

She was different to me,

And I feared our love would fade.

I gave her a tender kiss.

Boom! I turned into a mermaid.

We made each other jewellery

From beautiful shells for sharing.

Suddenly, I woke up feeling sad

But the shell I was still wearing.

Was it all just a dream?

Each weekend I sit by the sea.

Remembering my mermaid child,

I wonder if she thinks of me.
