I awoke with a jolt atop my horse, it slowly trailing behind my fellow rider. The sun was high already. Two weeks we had been riding, almost non-stop, and suddenly we were surrounded by beauty. I could almost taste the sweet scent of freshly bloomed roses as I scanned my surroundings. Chirping birds flittered past me in great numbers, singing pleasant tunes as they flew; all while a mild breeze kissed and warmed my travel-dirty face. So much colour, sunlight, movement stretching all the way to the borders.
My awe was suppressed by a few simple words: 'Welcome to Wonderland.'
