Dreams Of A Major

When I close my eyes and dream

There tends to be a recurring theme

The sun is hot, the air serene

And I'm heading towards a majestic green.

It's day four of the Open and I'm very much hoping

That my shot out of the sand, on the 18th green will land!

There's a hush in the crowd. I approach the ball, my head bowed

I strike the Titleist with all my might

And watch it lift into full fight

It twirls and it flies and it lands with a din

Two short feet from the 18th pin.

Victory is but a putt away

I close my eyes and I pray

I stand up tall and tap the ball

With tears in my eyes I watch it fall.

The crowd rise to their feet

And I watch my opponent, humble in defeat

I savour the moment, taking everything in

On this... my first ever major win!
