My Sinking Soul

My heart was pounding. My teeth chattering. Hearing haunting screams from above, sounding like souls were about to sink. The freezing water took hold of my body as though someone was sucking the life out of my veins. My children were all I could think of. Their voices on replay in my mind, their laughter in my soul. Everything went fuzzy like my eyes suddenly gave up. Then my legs and arms grew numb, as if I was useless. I knew this was the end. They said she was unsinkable. How wrong were they? Third class was a bad idea.
