The Amazon

I see mysterious creatures lurking around me

Camouflaged among the leaves

Slowly slithering beside me

Was a snake as extensive as an elongated giraffe on its side

Crawling through the deadly depths of the Amazon

Eventually becoming deeper and deeper

Further and further in

I see a tiger with stripes as black as the night

And lions with golden manes

I feel the damp vines above my head

And the stubby monkey fur

I feel the raindrops descending

Coming down like bullets

Covered in water, I carry on crawling

Becoming deeper and deeper

Further and further in

With rain cashing down like metal on my face

I feel a soft breeze among the trees

Colliding with my face

I hear the birds chirping, struggling to stay dry

Along with the monkeys swinging like a little boy

I hear the sly snakes returning to their lair

I hear the rain crashing down

With a little pitter-patter on my spherical head

On the brink of giving up hope

I carry on crawling

Becoming deeper and deeper

Further and further in.
