The Beam

I was lying in bed when I had a dream

An Olympic gymnast fell off the beam

What should one do? Should she run away?

Or should she perhaps decide to stay?

I was lying in bed when I had a dream

An Olympic gymnast fell off the beam

Her legs were shaking she wanted to cry

But she climbed on to have another try.

I was lying in bed when I had a dream

An Olympic gymnast fell off the beam

As the music played she was less afraid

At that moment she was pleased she had stayed

I was lying in bed when I had a dream

An Olympic gymnast fell off the beam

Gracefully she danced along

Moving in time to the beat of the song

I was lying in bed when I had a dream

An Olympic gymnast fell off the beam

She jumped and twirled round and round

At last her bravery was found

I was lying in bed when I had a dream

An Olympic gymnast fell off the beam

The scores were in, she wasn't first

But she was pleased she wasn't the worst

I was lying in bed when I had a dream

An Olympic gymnast fell off the beam

Sometimes things don't go to plan

But like the gymnast, believe you can.
