The choirs in my head screamed as I hurried through the woods. The moon followed, snarling as she approached. Darkness moved with an empress' finesse, cloaking the earth beneath in her robes, till the land was veiled in midnight. I watched as the shadows nearby stood stationary and helpless, as they dripped and melted into nothing at all. I was next.
I ran frantically to the horizon, gripping onto the edges of the world. My heart thundered my chest and tears bled from my eyes the colour of sunset. Then night-time fell, and so did I.
