World War 2 My Account Grace, 1940

Evacuate me, never! Next, we were bundled onto a train with kisses and tears. Radayr station was eerily silent. Scowling dragons collected us. I remained positive, strong and brave for Dan. I wept buckets when alone. Humour helped - no Jerries would bomb sheep! We farmed for our keep. Dragon's soup, watery cabbage, no comparison with fish and chips! Chapel, sandwich Sunday was surreal! Sunday school awful! School OK! Things went from bad to worse. The dragons confiscated my books and washed Dan's mouth with soap. My mind was made up - the great escape was executed - that's another monologue to share!
