Nobody told me the tooth fairy wasn't real. The orphanage was lonely for me, until my first friend came. He gave me sweets in return for the tooth I'd lost that day. He visited whenever I lost teeth, bringing gifts to exchange for them. When I lost my last baby tooth, he cackled. I asked him why, he revealed a set of jagged, misshapen teeth. My teeth. 'Because now I have a full set! I can finally feed!'
He bit into my neck, clamping a hand over my mouth to silence my screams.
