Autumn

Autumn prowled through the whispering wood

Painting on each leaf

She grinned at every blackberry

Showing her cold teeth

She made a windy call

Drawing out the sun

He stretched out his hot fingers

And all his work was done

Autumn sweeps in hurriedly

Slicing off the leaves

She giggles at the squirrels

Who hibernate in trees

She shouts up some wind

Calling in the clouds

They grumble and they huff

Shooting lightening to the ground

Autumn skates in swiftly

Shooting wind left and right

Sending birds gliding gleefully

Flying high in the light.
