By The Fireplace

She sat in sorrow beside the fireplace,
The dying embers flickering in her face,
She stares in misery at the pouring rain,
Her tearstained face looking down the lane,
Shattered hopes and a broken heart,
Her bright spirit has been torn apart.

The special memories bring her back a smile,
If only she could hold it for a longer while,
A once contained sadness has now burst a leak,
Escaping tears softly rolling down her cheek,
A feeling of emptiness and dread inside,
All her dreams lost, her soul has died.

Her ocean of grief never shall dry,
Her only company, the dark night sky.
