Terror In The Night

People were screaming and babies were crying
I woke with a shock
I could see thick smoke swirling in my room
Out of my window flames were dancing
Houses were glowing red
I could hear wood popping and cracking
My legs began to wobble
I was terrified
I had to escape
Quickly I climbed onto the roof
Flickering flames everywhere
Choking black smoke twisting over roofs
Fire as mesmerising as hot bubbling lava
Ash floating in the hot wind
