Young Writers Ignites Passion For Poetry With Sponsored Workshops For Local Schools

On Wednesday 14th January, Young Writers hosted their first sponsored poetry workshop at Werrington Primary School. Young Writers sent local poet Mark Grist to host a morning’s workshop, designed to motivate and enthuse pupils to write poetry. The ultimate aim of the workshop was to have all pupils, regardless of their academic ability, write their own poem and thoroughly enjoy doing so! Young Writers also hoped that any negative preconceptions that pupils may have about poetry would also be dispelled.

New Health Diaries Inspire Children to Take Action

Brunel Primary and Nursery Academy in Saltash is one of just two schools in the country trialling the new Healthy Kids Kit Diaries from Love Our Health. The diaries form an integral part of a new 12-week education programme for primary schools that teaches children how to make healthy choices. A range of free on-line resources including class materials for teachers, information for parents and fun activities for children supports the healthy diaries. Love Our Health creates and develops educational resources to help children stay healthy. The Healthy Kids Kit and accompanying diary is a new 12-week program aimed at Key Stage 2 children. By using the Kit in school and at home, children can learn to make choices that benefit their health. What's more, the Kit links with the Key Stage 2 Science Curriculum.
