Allesley Primary School win £1,000 1st Prize in National Poetry Competition

Congratulations to local school Allesley Primary School who've won Young Writers poetry competition, Poetry Adventures!

Poetry Adventures ran from September 2013 to July 2014 and over 11,000 poems from 400 schools nationwide were received.

The editors loved reading the poems from 5-7 year-olds; poems were based on real or imaginary experiences and pupils used a variety of poetry styles and techniques to write their poems.

Once all of the Poetry Adventures books were published, Young Writers' editorial team, led by Jenni Bannister, had the difficult yet rewarding task of choosing just one school prize winner. Allesley Primary School in Coventry has been chosen as the school who entered the best set of entries and won £1,000 1st prize! 31 of their pupils had work published in 'Poetry Adventures - Western England'.
