National Creative Writing Competition School Winners Announced!

Young Writers ran their creative writing competition ‘Grim Tales’ in the 2014/2015 academic year. Schools across the UK were invited to submit their students' work for the opportunity to be published and win prizes. Young Writers received in excess of 27,000 mini sagas from over 800 schools! Young Writers' Editorial team chose the best writer from each book and awarded them with a £10 Love2Shop voucher upon publication. Once the series was published, the tough decision of who the best three schools were had to be made.

Young Writers would like to thank everyone who took part and are delighted to announce their school winners as…

1st Prize – £1,000
Awarded to King Edward VI Handsworth School, Birmingham
Whose students featured in “Grim Tales – Birmingham”

2nd Prize – £500

Whose students featured in “Grim Tales – The West Midlands”

3rd Prize – £250 worth of books

Jenni Bannister, Editorial Manager commented: “Grim Tales really captured the imaginations of students nationwide. We were spooked, enthralled and entertained by their fantastic creations. Well done to both the student and school winners – the standard of work was excellent!”
