Grim Tales National Story Writing Competition is Now Open!

Grim Tales is Young Writers brand new mini saga competition for young adults aged 11-18 years. Inspired by the Brothers Grimm, Grim Tales challenges pupils to write their own original mini saga. Pupils can be inspired by a famous story, add a twist to their tale or write their own macabre mini saga.

Schools across the UK are invited to submit their pupils’ mini sagas to Young Writers’ latest competition. A mini saga is a complete story written in just 100 words! Using Young Writers’ competition pack teachers can inspire and enthuse pupils to write a mini saga on a theme of their choice, ensuring originality, a fun writing project and the opportunity to be published.

Each mini saga submitted will be read by Young Writers’ editorial team and considered for a regional anthology. Published writers will then be in with the chance of winning a prize - the best writer in each collection will be awarded with a £10 Love2Shop voucher, plus there are cash prizes available for schools to win too!
