Through Their Eyes 2024
Poetry Competition
Ideal for 11-18
Through Their Eyes gives your young writer the opportunity to step into somebody else's life and write a poem about what they imagine their thoughts, feelings and experiences are. It encourages them to exercise both imagination and empathy.
Your child can write from the point of view of anyone or anything. For example:
📖 A book character to show their understanding of the text they're studying
🐈The secret life of a pet
🤴A historical figure
🧦The inner thoughts of an inanimate object
👩⚕️Their idol or hero
😔Someone going through hardship e.g. war, bullying, poverty
Free resources are available to download, which are designed to ignite inspiration and help your child plan and write their poems, including examples from past winners and idea postcards.
Through Their Eyes is ideal for 11-18 year-olds, but students outside this age range are welcome to enter.
