This Is Me gives every child the chance to shine!
Ignite interest and engage your pupils with This Is Me national poetry competition!
What an amazing way to get to know your pupils at the start of an academic year, encouraging them to celebrate their individuality, empower them to explore who they are and discuss feelings in a safe space.
From speaking to teachers last term we know that lots of teachers find poetry a bit daunting, but don't worry as we have you covered with a huge range of optional free resources that support both you and your pupils with poetry writing.

😍 A 1-week poetry unit that has been written by Rachael Murray, an experienced primary English Co-Ordinator
🔍 A stand alone 1-hour exploring poetry lesson plan & presentation
✂️ A mood board activity for idea generation that you can tie to a poetic form of your choice
🥧 'A Recipe To Make Me' video workshop run by Mark Grist where your pupils will write a poem in the session (available to watch until 9pm on 31st Oct)

If you are looking to get involved with National Poetry Day on 5th October, This Is Me links perfectly to their theme this year, which is 'Refuge'. Inspire your pupils to write about who or where makes them feel safe and loved.
Your classroom is going to be buzzing with excitement around poetry as your pupils write their This Is Me poems, and we cannot wait to read them!
This Is Me is ideal for 7-12 year-olds, but pupils outside this age range are welcome to enter.

The school that submits the best overall set of entries will win The Young Writers' Award of Excellence and a huge poetry book bundle.

(Remember, you receive 1 free copy for every 30 entries you submit! E.g. 1-30 entries you receive 1 copy, 31-60 entries you receive 2 copies, etc.)

Our 10 favourite published poets will each win a fantastic creative writing goody bag!

Every entrant receives a bookmark and we award a certificate of merit for all young writers chosen for publication.
